There's been a 5.5% drop in the number of people signing on the Live Register in Kerry in the past year. Figures from the Central Statistics Office show there were 15,779 people signing on in the county during August; that's 930 fewer people than the same month last year. In the past year, the Caherciveen social welfare office has seen the largest drop in Kerry in the numbers signing on the Live Register, falling 14.1% to 649. Killarney registered a 7.9% fall to 2,490, and Dingle a 7.2% fall to 705. Kenmare's social welfare office saw a 6.5% drop to 541 in the past year, Tralee was down 4.6% to 6,908, Listowel fell 4% to 3,183, and Killorglin fell 3.4% to 1,303. Between July and August this year, all local social welfare offices in Kerry recorded a drop in the numbers signing on; there were 262 fewer people on the Live Register is August than July.
