A Kerry senator is taking the Health Minister to task over legislation which he claims was incorrectly signed into law in the past 10 days. The legislation is in relation to organ donation and was signed into law on 27 August last. However it was not debated in the Oireachtas. Senator Mark Daly has gathered the signatures of 20 fellow senators to demand the recall of the Seanad to discuss the matter. It's the first time this power of the Seanad has been invoked. The legislation can be now be debated and proposals for revisions and improvements can be implemented retrospectively. Senator Daly is a nominee of the Irish Kidney Association in the Seanad. He says the Seanad is determined to correct the Minister's mistake.
