From Radio Kerry:
One of Kerry's Paralympic athletes says the past fortnight has been a rollercoaster. The games came to a close in spectacular fashion in the Olympic stadium last night. 23 year old Ian Costelloe from Killorglin was competing in his first Paralympics in sailing just three years after taking up the sport. Ian who is an amputee finished 11th overall in the Sonar Sailing class with his teammates John Twomey and Anthony Hegarty. Kilflynn's Roy Guerin was tenth overall in the powerlifting event. Ian says he was made feel so welcome in London but is looking forward to coming home today to see his family and friends in mid Kerry.
