From Radio Kerry: Tralee's smoky coal ban area has been extended. Environment Minister Phil Hogan says the extension will bring cleaner air, fewer deaths and will help promote more efficient fuels. The new regulations were prepared following a public consultation process earlier this year. They provide for expansions of the ban areas within most cities and towns already covered by the smoky coal ban, including Tralee. In addition, 7 new towns will be included under the ban from May 2013 onwards. Tralee remains the only Kerry town with a smoky coal ban. A map showing the areas of Tralee bound by the ban is available on www.environ.ie
