A Fine Gael councillor says a policy from the National Roads Authority that prohibits building when access to the property is onto a national route is outrageous. Guidelines issued by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government show the planning authority should avoid the creation of any additional access points from new developments or the generation of increased traffic from existing access to national roads. Cllr Patrick Connor-Scarteen says he is considering setting up a cross party group to address a serious planning issue, which has seen the NRA appeal several planning permissions granted by Kerry County Council.
