Kerry's towns and villages can take great pride in their performances in this year's Tidy Towns Competition. As reported on Radio Kerry yesterday, Tralee, Killarney, Kenmare and Listowel won gold medals, Sneem took a silver medal and Knightstown and Portmagee won bronze. Treasa Murphy has been taking a closer look at the marks awarded to towns and villages in the county. Knightstown held onto the position of Tidiest Village with a population of under 200 in Kerry; Portmagee was runner up, Currow finished in third place and Knocknagoshel came fourth in this category of the Tidy Towns Competition. Silver medal winner Sneem won the Category B section in Kerry for larger villages; in second place was Tarbert, Beaufort finished third and Moyvane came fourth. Ballybunion is officially the Tidiest Small Town in the Category C section, for populations over 1,000 and under 2,501. Castleisland finished in second place, a point ahead of Dingle. Listowel won the Category D title in the Larger Small Town category, Kenmare was a point behind in second place while Killorglin was third.
