Kerry South TD Tom Fleming is supporting recommendations that the proposed property tax should be income related. The Independent deputy supports the recommendation, first suggested by Fine Gael Dublin South TD Peter Mathews. Deputy Fleming says that there are many households in terror of the property tax. On Monday, the Finance Minister rejected suggestions from the IMF that the tax should be pitched at around 600-euro per household per year. Michael Noonan said the government would set a rate lower than that. Deputy Tom Fleming plans to raise the matter in the Dáil.
