www.kerryman.ie/news/bridewell-revisited-3219897.htmlIN what was undoubtedly one of the most imaginative events to take place in north Kerry during Heritage Week, historic characters such as Daniel O'Connell, Benjamin Franklin and Charlotte Bronte miraculously appeared in the woods in Tarbert on Sunday as part of the John F Leslie Woodland Walk. Joan Murphy, who played the part of Charlotte Bronte, explained that all three historical figures visited Tarbert House during the late 1700s and it was decided to re-enact their visit. Jerry O'Connell was brilliant in his impersonation of the Liberator, while Thomas Buckley bore an uncanny resemblence to the Benjamin Franklin, Joan said. "It was a brilliant event and all the characters mused about their background and why they visited Tarbert House and this was very well received," Joan said. This was one of several events organised by Tarbert Development Association to celebrate the town's heritage over the weekend. On Saturday locals dressed the part for a re-enactment of 19th century crime and punishment in Tarbert's Bridewell. Any thoughts?
