From Radio Kerry
Two Killarney Town Councillors have called for a feasibility study for an athletics track and field facility for the town. Independent Cllrs Patrick Courtney and Donal Grady believe such a facility would be of huge benefit to the whole community, both young and old. Inspired by the London Olympics, Cllr Courtney says introducing children to track and field at a young age has positive effects and it is good for those who are not suited to team sports.
Cllr Niall Botty O'Callaghan told the council that another group in the area already had well advanced plans in relation to a similar facility. Cllr Sean O'Grady said that feasibility studies are expensive and perhaps the council should back the current effort, Cllr Michael Gleeson also supported a co-ordinated approach.
Fairplay to them. The development of sporting facilities like this will be a huge development not just for Killarney but for the whole county. What do you think?
